Nadia Ayari: Eyelash in the Unknown
December 6th, 2022

For the Tunisian-born artist Nadia Ayari, completing a painting is not simple. The process can take up to two months and involves a labor intensive layering of thick oil paint that results in a uniquely textured canvas. Ayari has lived in Brooklyn since 2007 but often paints colorful flora from her homeland—stylized flowers, curving branches—with a symmetry that looks sci-fi. This show, which takes its name from a line of poetry by Daniel Feinberg, presents recent paintings alongside a series of luminous cast-glass sculptures, never before exhibited. —E.C.
